East Midlands aims for Foundation status

Monday, 01 June, 2009

The end of April marked the launch of an important public consultation seeking the views of local people on how East Midlands Ambulance Service will be run if it achieves NHS Foundation Trust status.

"East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) has now begun an exciting journey to become an NHS Foundation Trust. Achieving NHS Foundation Trust status will give EMAS much greater local influence, giving local communities, partner organisations and our staff a real opportunity to influence the way EMAS delivers its services to local people," said Chief
Executive Paul Phillips.

The public consultation began at the end of April and will end in July. Consultation booklets have been sent across the East Midlands and set out how they would operate as an NHS
Foundation Trust, including how each area of the East Midlands would be represented on their Council of Governors. The booklets are also available on their website at www.emas.nhs.uk/ft
