A young girl who received multiple injuries in a road traffic collision has met up with the paramedics who saved her life.

Emily Koehler, 20, was travelling through Ringshall in Hertfordshire on October 22 to meet up with her partner when her Corsa was in collision with an Audi. The impact was so severe she was trapped and in a critical condition. Hemel based duty operations manager Neil Hudson and his colleagues Jon Barclay and Graham Haycock attended the scene.

Due to her injuries, Emily was rapidly removed from the vehicle and conveyed to an awaiting trauma team at Watford General hospital. She was later transferred to the St Georges hospital in London and spend several weeks in a neurological intensive care unit.

On Monday, December 7, Graham, Jon and Neil made a special visit to see Emily at her Berkhamsted home and see how she was getting on. Emily's mother Kate said: "It was a very special day for Emily, she was so badly injured we wasn't sure she would pull through. Graham, Jon and Neil have saved her life and saved one of our family."

Emily who is still using a wheel chair to get around said: "I was so pleased to meet up with the paramedics who looked after on the evening of the crash. They really are my heroes."
