Colleagues pay last respects to 'a true gentlemen'

Thursday, 27 May, 2010

On Thursday, May 18, staff from the East of England Ambulance Service paid their final respects at the funeral of call handler Andrew Wilson.

Family, friends and work colleagues gathered at Luton Crematorium to say goodbye to Andrew. Emergency operations staff formed a guard of honour and six of Andrew's colleagues acted as pall bearers, with Carl Denton, EOC general manager, leading the hearse. There wasn't a dry eye in the crematorium as readings by Andrews brother, and Amit Paul, a colleague form the operations centre were read during the service.

Carl said: "Despite the solemnity of the occasion, there were touches of humour, with dispatcher Amit telling the congregation of his recollections of Andrew and he described him as a true gentleman. Andrew's wife, Caryl, has expressed her sincere thanks to everyone who attended the funeral."
