Simon and Gary teaching events organiser Anna Hewitson how to perfom basic life support.
On Monday, September 27, the East of England Ambulance Service trusts community partnership team took part in a successful careers event held at Stevenage Arts and Leisure Centre in Hertfordshire.
The event focused on the aptitude and natural ability of individuals to undertake the task rather than focussing immediately on their qualification levels. Community partnership training officer Simon Marshall, who attended the event said: "Throughout the evening, several members of the public showed interest in the ambulance service and the role of a community first responder. It was a very informative evening with people signing up to volunteer for the trust as first responders. Several students who attended were quite keen on training to be paramedics."
One of the trusts communications manager, Gary Sanderson popped along to give Simon some support, he said: "It was a really good turn out and everyone who stopped to chat to Simon were genuinely interested in the role of the ambulance service. My thanks to Simon for his commitment and enthusiasm on the night."
Events manager, Emma Hewitson said: "A great big thank you to Gary and Simon for coming along to support the Find Your Future event last week. Despite the bad weather, we actually had 183 individuals sign in and visit stalls throughout the evening, this is not including their parents and partners that also attended, of which we estimate is a further 60-80. So approximately 250 through the doors in total which is a pleasing turnout. Feedback from all of the exhibitors has been really positive with many providers saying that they registered interest from a good number of individuals."
