US Air Ambulance service puts ParAid products onboard

American air ambulance service, Air Life, which provides emergency transport of critically-ill children in eight states has selected UK ParAid Medical manufacturer to supply their onboard child restraints.
Air Life service transports over 2,000 patients a year and one fifth of those are paediatric patients requiring specialist child restraints. The service turned to ParAid Medical to supply eight new Ambulance Child Restraints (ACR) after routine equipment checks identified a need for additional restraints due to patient demand and safety standard compliance.
The ParAid Medical ACR was developed in partnership with the Children's Acute Transport Service (CATS), based at Great Ormond Street, London, The Scottish Ambulance Service and Lightweight Medical. It is a dedicated restraint for patient stretchers capable of securing children from 5kg to 45kg which meets CEN 1789:2007 safety standards.
Patient transfers are available through Air Life in Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, South Dakota, Texas, Utah and Wyoming and training on the use of ParAid on board restraints is mandatory for emergency staff in each of these states. It is vital that all staff are fully prepared to use the equipment during shifts to ensure that patients are transferred safely.
Karen Snider, Assistant Chief Flight Nurse, said:
"Countless people rely on our services and it is imperative that our onboard equipment is not only safe for our patients during transport, but easy for our staff to use - ParAid products certainly tick both of these boxes. It is also essential for our transportation equipment to be kept hygienic and we've found that ParAid products are very easy to disinfect. We will definitely be a long-time customer with ParAid."
Darryl Smith, Operations Director at ParAid Medical, said: "Air Life provides an important front-line service in the rapid transfer and early intervention of critically-ill children to the country's specialist intensive care units. We hope the restraints we supplied to Air Life Denver will help provide safe transfer for lots of patients throughout the several states that the service covers. Our long-established expertise in the area of medical care has allowed us to develop bespoke equipment for the UK's leading hospitals and we are now extremely proud to be chosen as a medical supplier to the US."
