IHCD Ambulance Training Partnership celebrates 50th Trainee

FTS Solutions, the IHCD-accredited training company, has just completed the training of its fiftieth trainee since it went into partnership with Alpha Care Training Services in Moulsford, Oxfordshire.

Derek Scott, Managing Director of FTS Solutions, said,


"In order to apply for preferred supplier status with two of the MOD's training programmes, we needed to find a training centre in close proximity to military bases and Alpha Care's purpose-built facility in Moulsford ticked all the boxes. It's close to RAF Benson and both Didcot & Abingdon Barracks and Alpha Care's largest training room allows us to train up to 20 people at one time. Eight months on from joining the MOD lists we're busier than we've ever been, training military service leavers and civilians for new careers as IHCD Ambulance Technicians. In addition to their IHCD Ambulance Technician course, they also provide the IHCD D1 & D2 Ambulance Driving courses at locations across the UK. All this is quite timely as the Care Quality Commission raises the bar on training standards in the private sector ahead of the implementation of s.19 of the Road Safety Act 2006, which mandates that all ambulance personnel who may exceed speed limits must undergo a recognised course of driver training.

"FTS is seeing high demand from Private Ambulance Services for the IHCD D1 & D2 courses presently. We have a large number of driving instructors we can call on to train across the UK but current demand means we're taking more DI's on."
