Suffolk-based private ambulance operator, EMS has successfully passed two key healthcare sector assessments in recent weeks - an unannounced in depth inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and accreditation as a member of the Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire Critical Care Network (CCN).
It means that the company was found to be fully compliant with the high standards now required by the industry regulator, with no notified failures at all - and the firm is also able to respond to calls and transfer requests from hospital intensive care units (ITU) and other specialist departments across the region.
In recent months, EMS staff have created and adopted their own standards raising initiative called PACE - Passionate About Care & Excellence - a mantra which is being applied across every level of the company and its operations. In addition to its ambulance operations, EMS also provides medical cover for major concerts and sporting events, remote services at sites such as power stations, air casualty evacuation and medical repatriation services - all areas of business which it is working hard to develop and grow.
Operations Director, Kal Wells says, "Best practice and clinical excellence is a mindset commitment for us and we are delighted that we have passed the very thorough scrutiny of both the CQC and the CCN. Being a small and dedicated team enables us to work effectively as a direct extension of the in-house hospital teams and this is particularly important where we are dealing with serious and critically ill patients or cases requiring very specialist support."
EMS already operates two of the latest 5-tonne box body ambulances which provide better working space for care teams whilst on the move. Its fleet also includes a specialist high dependency unit and a 4x4 response vehicle.
