NHS staff give thumbs up to free Sort It! packs

A campaign to help NHS staff sort waste more efficiently has been given a big thumbs up.
The Sort It! Campaign was created by PHS Group plc to help save the NHS millions of pounds a year by making it easier for staff – whether clinical, managerial or support - to deal more responsibly with the waste they encounter in their daily working lives.
Since the campaign launched in March, PHS has given out hundreds of free packs to hospital and healthcare departments across the UK.
The packs contain posters, postcards and a unique ‘waste wheel’ which condenses 120-pages of regulatory compliance guidelines into a simple pocket-sized spinner that makes sorting waste simple.
Caroline Williams, marketing manager at PHS, said:
“Sort It! carries a simple but vitally important message. Money is being thrown away at most NHS facilities every day because hardworking staff are unclear about what to do with different types of waste.
“If only a fraction of the 1.3 million workforce starts sorting waste more efficiently, the NHS will make huge savings. Our vision is for every member of the NHS to carry a waste wheel as standard.
“We hope people visit the campaign website and request to request free Sort It! packs www.phs.co.uk/sort-it/home and follow @SortItCampaign on Twitter, too.”
