Ambulance duo reunited with baby and parents

A Crawley couple and their baby girl have been reunited with the ambulance crew who delivered the now three month old.
Baby Nancy-Fay was born to mum Amie Edge and dad Antony Barden on 23 August at Amie’s mum’s home in the town.
South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) Paramedic Vicky Jago and Ambulance Technician Darren Hudson, both based in Crawley, arrived in time to help Amie through the final stages of her labour.
Amie, whose labour progressed quickly after she arrived home from a hospital check, said: “I’d planned everything ahead and had everything nicely packed for ages but it obviously didn’t really go to plan and my mum had to call 999. It was all really nice in the end though. Darren and Vicky were both so good and it’s been really nice to see them face-to-face and say thank you.”
Amie was pleased to not have to go into hospital after being checked by a midwife and enjoyed resting in her own bed that night.
She added: “It was a great start to family life. I love the fact my mum was such a huge part of it. It has helped create a bond between nanny and granddaughter just as amazing as I have with her.”
Vicky said: “Amie did amazingly well. We didn’t have far to go to get to her when the call came in and Nancy-Fay arrived about 20 minutes after we got there. I’ve lost count of the number of babies I’ve delivered but it’s always a lovely feeling and I’m so pleased for Amie and Antony. It’s great to have seen them again and it was really lovely to hold Nancy-Fay. Both Darren and I wish them all the best for the future.”
Antony added: “I got a call from Amie’s mum telling me to get round now. I was thinking that it’ll just be because we’d be going back into hospital but it was obvious there wasn’t going to be time. Vicky did so well and obviously I’d also like to say how grateful we both are to Vicky and Darren for everything they did.”
