IAA now on viable sustainable path
Monday, 07 April, 2014
Anita Human, Chair, told the Independent Ambulance Association AGM on 2 April that in the last year they had turned the industry’s challenges into opportunities and, in doing so, set the IAA on a viable, sustainable path.
The year had with a virtually new Board of Directors and in addition to training and events, 2 new working groups had been set up - looking at the advancement of IT and advising on future policy issues.
The Association turned a substantial first year deficit with its substantial start-up costs into a very small surplus in 2013 and was very well positioned to continue its development and work for members.
David Davis, IAA Director, presenting his annual review, said that the Association had extended its reach to Scotland and Northern Ireland and he hoped to soon recruit its first associate member in Wales. Looking ahead he said that with more legislation affecting the ambulance service likely to come from Brussels and Strasbourg, further expansion of the IAA’s presence in Europe might be necessary.
